Teaching is my third career; I'm still trying to find something I'm good at!
Now I have been at the chalkface for seven years at Noel-Baker I still like to try and challenge myself, finding new ways to use ICT to enhance engagement with reading and improving Literacy skills. On this page I hope to add some different resources and showcase some of the things I have been up to.
This year proved to be a memorable one in terms of the school magazine, which I oversee along with Richard Flower, the Learning Resource Centre Manager. We entered 'The Martlet' into a national competition where we were shortlisted in several categories, including Best Online and Most Inspirational Teacher. Personally this was extremely gratifying and we had great coverage in the local press.
After the event I was asked to write a short account of our day - which can be found on Shine National Media Award's website.
The school magazine was launched as we have a dedicated form group that works hard on Literacy and ICT projects. Below you can see a promotional video they put together advertising the Learning Resource Centre - it's a familiar tune, I just re-wrote the lyrics a little.

For World Book Day we tried to encourage more classes to read by giving some readings from popular titles. Below is one example, Pig-Heart Boy by Malorie Blackman. If you want to hear the rest you can find them on the Noel Baker LRC You Tube channel.
